Punathil
Kunjabdulla Wins Mathrubhumi Literary Award 2013
Novelist and
short story writer Dr Punathil Kunjabdulla was selected for this year's
Mathrubhumi literary award. The award, which is the biggest literature award in
Malayalam, consist of a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a plaque and certificate.
A modernist in
Malayalam literature, Kunjabdulla won the Kendra Sahithya Academy Award for his
novel Smarakasilakal (Memorial Stones) in 1980. A doctor by profession,
Kunjabdulla was born in Vadakara and runs a hospital in Vadakara.
